VIVIENNE WESTWOOD. Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Show yesterday night has pulled the curtains down for Hong Kong Fashion Week. Before the show starts, me and my blogger friend Twee of Ezzentrictopz (sitting next to me) was discussing which celebrity will Westwood have for leading the finale, might be a difficult decision since she had famous song writer and fashion icon Wyman Wong walking for last year, both of us were very surprised to see famous actor Ng Chun Yu appearing in a sleek black Westwood suit leading the finale. Big applause surrounding the hall when he walked out.
This latest collection from the Queen of Punk is about medieval pilgrims. With her unbelievably random and occasional technique in structuring each design pieces, the story was told via painted tropical florals, peak-shouldered jackets, lace made out of leather, and many more. My favourite is always the full skirts bursting with tulle, and also her signature cleavage-baring top. Oh yes, and the way she layered the pieces, it always fascinates me and gives great inspiration as they always seems random and care-free, yet looking so unique and sophisticated when putting together. Besides pushing the boundaries of punk to high fashion, to me, this is another reason why she’s being called a legend.
