Nothing comes more meaningful than supporting a friend, a designer’s dream by being part of his crew, capturing moments that embraces his effort, hard work and perseverance — I’m talking about ERBERT CHONG’s FW15 Fashion Show. Rather than describing it as a ‘show’ It was more like a fashion ‘performance’, collaborated with Hong Kong’s innovative production company I AM, and directed by Kate March. Nine talented actors/dancers showcased Erbert’s collection through a series of contemporary choreography, expressing his story in a visionary way which pushes boundaries off from the traditional runway.
His Fall/Winter 2015 Collection “I Am the Black Narcissus” is deeply inspired by the explosive erotic film, “Black Narcissus” from 1947. Bodysuits wrapping around the body like bandage, unbalanced jackets with a play of textures and monochrome contrasts, hard leather words highlighted with gold zippers, etc. The collection stay true to Erbert’s signature style — dark, mysterious, sensual, and dramatic, while reinterpreting femininity with another kind of gracefulness, an unconventional kind that covers with exotic edge.
A long-prepared fashion show hosting in AZURE, one of the finest bar & restaurant in Central, Hong Kong, with all footwear supported by Rupert Sanderson, and makeup sponsored by M.A.C Cosmetics, you have no reason not to admit that Erbert’s innovative artistry and daring attitude is what makes him one of the influential up-and-rising designers in Hong Kong. And have I mentioned that these are all happening within 2 years of launching the label?
