“Project Live Your Life” campaign, the very first AMERICAN EAGLE OUTFITTERS event in Hong Kong was a wrap.
Previously pulling off a style competition by having Hong Kongers sharing their #LiveYourLife AEO denim outfit, street snap photos were uploaded on AEO Facebook. The top 20 contestants received the highest public votings will be entering the semi-final, for a chance to be the Hong Kong faces of its next ad campaign shot in the USA.
The final round was held last Saturday, with 10 fashion bloggers meeting the 20 finalists separately in two American Eagle boutiques, we were asked to style 2 finalists that captures our own style with the AEO spirit of individualism, energetic and optimism. Fashion doesn’t always has to be exaggerative and moody, sometimes it’s about being comfortable and feeling great about yourself. Being one of the guest stylist of the day, I’ve had my styling strategy focused on the individual daily lifestyle of Leon and Wing (aka. my 2 “models”).
Founder and Editor of Popbee.com Janice kick start the event with a demonstration on her ideal American Eagle Outfitter FW13 style.
Styling Leon and Wing, before and after.
Leon is a student, a photographer, and a freelance Graphic designer, without the needs of putting on blazers for work, I’ve styled him with a smart-casual denim-on-denim look. Layering is my “thing” for winter fashion, and with the tartan heating up the trend, the red pattern was layered underneath the same tone of denim. Showing the patterns on the sleeves and placket has brighten this forever denim-classic combination. Taking the balance between style and practicality into consideration, his bottom white tee was left exposed without doing any button ups. As for the sunnies, just a little accessories that will make the man look more chic and edgy, besides, he will be needing it for outdoor shooting. Don’t all photographers do?
As for Wing, she works in an office which (luckily) doesn’t requires her to dress in formal black and white suits everyday. She has long legs and I’d like to show this off through a pair of skinny jeans, not 100% denim-made, but instead in purple with metallic surface. The colour that represents royalty intermingled with the surface that signatures contemporary sits perfectly together when it comes to semi-formal. I love layering knitted sweaters above shirts (in any kinds of patterns and prints) during winter, completing the outfit with the subtleness of light blue and grey, the projected contemporary elegance and femininity on Wing will never be too casual for her work-wear. As for the denim jacket, take it as something extra to spice up the style after office hour, enjoying dinner with friends and lovers for relaxation.
Leon and Wing styled by me 🙂
Coming after with a mini presentation of my styling ideas.
Public votings for the final round of ‘Project Live Your Life’ is now happening on AEO Facebook, feel free to vote for your favourite style and of course, I hope you’d vote for the 2 handsome and sweet that I’ve styled. The voting will ends at 09December 24:00 HK Time, and by that time, AEO will be holding a grand finale event in the second week of December in reviling the winners through a panel of cool judges. Want to know who will they be ? (Hint: I’ve had a photo with one of them in Stubbs & Wootton event)
This event is surely one of the best that I’ve ever involved in. A ladies moment with my fellow blogger friends, getting to know Janice (finally), the happy chattings with Leon and Wing, a little shopping moment in AEO after the event (look what I’ve got!), and also the great catering services, weekend afternoon well spent! Thank you American Eagle Outfitters in having me, stay tune for the winner announcement on December and don’t forget to vote!
